Manavi, Inc.
A new country, a new language, a new culture-isolated-without words of your own, how do you ask for help?

South Asian women who endure abusive marriages when they come to the United States feel they have no resources to aid them. Fearful for their safety and the safety of their children they become prisoners in their own homes and isolated by language and cultural barriers.

Manavi will listen and comprehend.

Meet Manavi, an organization for women who trace their cultural heritage to Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Manavi delivers life support by understanding these women and showing a way out. Women learn English, receive legal advice and benefit from a number of advocacy programs geared to their specific needs. Additionally, Manavi has founded Ashiana, a transitional/safe home offering a secure and supportive environment where women can live rent free in a culturally familiar residence while they get back on their feet.

You can help these women who want so much to speak for themselves. Your generous donation will purchase:

-$25 pays for a phone card

-$50 pays for monthly phone service at Ashiana

-$250 pays for one month's cost to maintain an 8 hour crisis intervention hotline

-$500 pays for two month's groceries for Ashiana's residents
